Arab News – A recent study showed a variation in spending among Saudi families during Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha, with spending during the Adha Eid running less than Eid Al-Fitr by 30 percent, especially in areas connected to Haj.
In this respect, the head of the economic offices and consultancies, adviser Hamzah Own, said spending characteristics between Eid Al-Adha and Eid Al-Fitr vary greatly. During Eid Al-Fitr, people tend to purchase many goods, including clothing and sweets, as well as other things, because it comes after a month of fasting.
However, in Eid Al-Adha families are only interested in offering a livestock sacrifice away from other spending aspects, such as buying clothes and sweets. This goes to show that joy is expressed differently during the two Eids. He said Saudi families decrease their spending during Eid Al-Adha in comparison with Eid Al-Fitr, by 30 percent.
He added that Eid Al-Adha is a suitable opportunity for families to get together, unlike Eid Al-Fitr which is used for travel and tourism, and even if families don’t travel, they look for entertainment during Eid Al-Fitr, reported Okaz.
