Saudi Gazette – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has reiterated that the Kingdom was keen to bring about security, stability and justice to Syria. He said Saudi Arabia always stood for the safety and stability of Syria.
King Salman said this while receiving leaders of the Syrian opposition, who concluded their meetings here late Thursday. “I would like to tell you that Syria is dear to us and our relations with Syria are historical and the Syrian and welfare of the our Syrian brethren is important to us,” the King told the leaders.
The Kingdom, King Salman said, always stood for Arab unity. “We will continue to work to achieve our goal,” he said.
On behalf of the assembled Syrian leaders, former Syrian prime minister Riyadh Hijab appreciated the hospitality shown by the Kingdom. He said the Kingdom, as it has done in Yemen, would exert all efforts to put an end to repression and restore the hopes of the people of Syrians, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.
The audience was attended by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior; Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense; Prince Miteb Bin Abdullah, minister of the National Guard; Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf, minister of finance; Dr. Adel Al-Turaifi, minister of culture and information; and Adel Al-Jubeir, minister of foreign affairs.
