SPA – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has donated $500,000 on behalf of the Kingdom to support various development programs of the Digital Welfare Platform project.
This was announced Saturday by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Nizar Obaid Madani at the inauguration ceremony of the Digital Welfare Platform. The ceremony was held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation and coordination with the Office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) here.
The project aims to collect donations from individuals around the world to serve international development projects and to support and achieve sustainable development goals beyond 2015.
The digital platform was initiated by the Kingdom’s youth and adopted by UNDP. The electronic platform was one of the initiatives proposed by the Saudi youth, who participated in an international dialogue, in order to benefit from electronic commerce potentialities and to contribute to solving the problem of poverty in the world.
It would also provide an opportunity to collect donations from individuals around the world so that these donations reach the final beneficiary under the supervision of the United Nations Organization represented by UNDP in New York.
