Arab News – The Fifth National Urban Heritage Forum (NUHF), which concluded in Qassim recently, has approved a number of cooperation agreements to implement heritage initiatives, projects and programs across the Kingdom.
Several agreements were signed between the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) and its partners on the sidelines of NUHF, an SCTNH official said here on Sunday.
He revealed that the signing ceremony was attended by SCTNH President Prince Sultan bin Salman, Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman, Qassim Gov. Prince Faisal bin Mishaal, Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques chief Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais and Abdul Lateef Al-Asheikh, minister of municipal and rural affairs.
The official said that the SCTNH president signed an MoU with the MoMRA minister for implementing the Omran initiative, which aims to convert plans and strategies into operational programs to make a difference in the tourism development process.
The SCTNH also signed agreements for executing Al-Sageer House initiative, in Al-Ebailah neighborhood, for restoration and to be handed over to Al-Badai municipality, and for putting into operation the handicraft centers in Buraidah and Al Masokaf Souk in Onaizah, and allow periodic activities to promote heritage tourism in the Kingdom in general and in Qassim in particular.
Moreover, an agreement was signed for executing the hospitality and tourism program in Ayun Al-Jawah with an aim to put the heritage town into operation and provide it with tourism programs.
In addition, the initial agreement for tourism trips in Buraidah municipality, under the “Strategic Tourism Routes” which is adopted by the SCTNH, was signed.
Furthermore, agreements were signed for implementing a number of programs and projects outside Qassim province, including the rehabilitation of seven mosques in Madinah. The agreements were signed between Madinah municipality and Al-Turath foundation, and Al-Deyar Emar project in Asir to activate heritage projects in the province.
